WOYWW: The Promised Land

Hello, dear blog friends!

On my desk today (obviously, I used the push and shove method to clear up some space) is a lovely Madonna and Child ATC from Voula...

and a page from my prayer journal for the reading today.  This verse reminds me of our recent visit to Mount Nebo in Jordan, the place where Moses viewed the Promised Land.

It was a rainy, foggy day when we went there, so we didn't get to see the view of Israel.  We didn't even get to see this landmark and had to resort to taking pictures of  pictures hanging on the wall of the chapel there...

Sometimes in life, we can't see our own promised lands.  We can't see how God's going to answer our prayers, we can't see how His promises will come to pass.

Our vision is blurred by the fog and rain of fears, doubts, and all sorts of other things.

I did manage to get a picture of this landmark.  Even if the guide didn't tell me, I would know this is Mount Nebo because of this landmark. And I know that the view is there even if I didn't see it that day.

In life, my landmark is the Word of God.  When I can't see my promised land, I look to God's Word to remind me that the land is there, even if I can't see it.  I look to God's Word to remind me that His promises are true even when it is rainy and foggy.  Eventually, the sun shines, the fog clears, and the view is beautiful.

Ah fantastic thoughts on your post Peggy, if only we were always so clear sighted it is so easy in life to be inundated by what is going on around us..
keep looking to the Word as you say..
And as it says, "looking unto Jesus The Author and Finisher of our faith" Hebrews 12:2 that is our focus..
Thanks so much for sharing ~ happy WOYWW! Shaz in Oz. x #17

I can identify with the push and shove method of clearing a space, though yours looks more tidy than that.
I had a lovely quote from my daughter-in-law today. I was messaging her about her son and told her that I have been asked to speak in church this week (Mothering Sunday), for five minutes, on Motherhood. I said "Shall I just say it is a 'walk in the park? Do you think they'll belive me'. She sent back, "Yes Kate. It is a walk in the park really. It's just that it is quite often raining!" Love it. Your comments about the weather sometimes blurring the real picture made me think of it again. But you are right. How fortunate we are to have the Landmark to refer to whenever we are feeling a bit lost.
Blessings. Have a great week. Kate x #57

Wonderful photos and lovely to see more of your trip. It is great to have the thoughts to go with the pictures as well. How true, we don't always see, we just have to rely on the promise.

The madonna and child look like they are in the loving arms of God. I like your perspective of sometimes when we cannot see it is because of the rain and fog of fear and doubt. Beautifully illustrated with words. . .your art and your words speak to me (always). Blessings, Janet PPF

Hi Peggy, I love your great cleaning method of "push and shove", I have used that before. Ha! I can identify with your landmark too. The word of God is mine also. It has gotten me through many storms. I am a new follower of your blog and hope you will follow mine. Thanks for joining us this week at WAW.

So true; God is there even when we don't "feel" His presence. We can look to the Word to remind us of His promises and His faithfulness. Thanks for sharing your Holy Land pictures and thoughts!
