Birdseed Blessings: Birds on My Workdesk!

Every morning, I wake up to the sound of birds chirping outside my window.  There is a bird feeder hanging outside and they have their breakfast there.

It wasn't always so.  For months after we put the bird feeder up, we kept waiting to see if the birds had found it.  We were so happy and excited when we finally saw one bird perched on the feeder.  Finally, we thought!

Sometimes I think we are like these birds, not knowing what blessings God is so eager to give us.  In His goodness and generosity, He is just waiting for us to claim these blessings.  How He delights when we receive the blessings He wants to give us!

And is not His Word a great blessing just waiting to be discovered?  Are not some of our bibles just kept on a shelf, waiting to be discovered?   So many words of blessing, consolation, hope, help, encouragement, healing, promise, wisdom ("For the word of God is alive and powerful. Hebrews 4:12"), just waiting to be discovered.

And are not those who have discovered these blessings like the birds who first discovered our bird feeder?   The first bird brought another and that one brought another and today, so many birds come every day.  My prayer is that I may always be open to receive whatever blessings that God wants to give me and I may always share these blessings with others.

The birds that visit us are my inspiration for my latest Artist trading cards.  Our visitor birds are little brown Maya birds (that's what we call them) but the birds I am making are colorful birds copied from an old children's book my son (who is now 16 years old) was giving away. (Edit: If you like birds, I think you will like the story of Squirt, the baby bird I found and befriended).

So this is what is on my work desk this Wednesday.  For a peek at other work desks joining What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, drop by Julia's blog.

        "Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?"
Matthew 6:26

May you discover your own birdseed blessings!

Awesome drawings hun :)
The birds where we live don't ever seem to sleep, we hear them chirping at all hours of the night and day! We live near an industrail estate thats lit up like a football pitch, so the birds never know when they are supposed to be asleep :0)

Birds! I love birds too. I have a feeder outside of the window at my desk, and they make me so happy - particularly if I've remembered to leave a bit of seed on the (outside) of the sill. In fact, some of them are so used to it that when they are out, they will peck at my window until I replenish their food source :)

A beautiful reminding post and beautiful drawings too! You're so lucky to be able to feed the birds in the summer. We can't here because the bears find the seed and will destroy the feeders. Not to mention, it's kind of scary seeing a BEAR outside our window instead of just things with feathers!
Love the little drawing on the sidebar with the cottage and thatched roof and flower pots on the balcony! So sweet! You have a delicate touch!

What a beautiful post! I love your analogy using the birds and the Word. I too love listening to the birds outside my window and getting breakfast at the feeder. The birds and His Word are both true delights! Both bring beauty to one's life! Your art work is wonderful! Thank you for sharing and have a beautiful day.

So beautiful!! I have 4 feeders and go through about 25 pounds of seeds in just a couple of weeks. Part of this is because 3 of our feeders have squirrels and we have around 8 of those. But I delight in watching the many birds they are quite amazing. I like how you applied this to feeding on Scripture. God bless!
