I just came from Paete, a few hours drive away, a town with "a long reputation for its craftsmen, highly skilled in wood carving and its embellishment.' I came home with a pair of hand carved plaques, 22 cm in diameter, which I bought for £6.25 (perhaps I should paint some parts of it?),
and a little angel (wingspan only 8 cm) that I bought for less than £1.40
Lovely finds and what a bargain! That's What's on My Workdesk this Wednesday.
And for Word Art Wednesday, a pair of illustrations for you...
with wonderful promises for God's people! I am off to Osaka, Japan today so I am busy packing!
13 blog hugs:
What wonderful plaques and wee cherub! Your art is as ever inspiring and beautiful.
Blessings

Bonjour chère amie,
Je suis très heureuse de vous retrouver après ma longue pause estivale !...
Vous nous montrez une très jolie plaque de bois sculpté et un magnifique petit ange.
Je vous souhaite un beau séjour au Japon.
Gros bisous ♡

Hi I'm back and am really enjoying the adventure of setting up my new creative space in our new home. I've really missed catching up with all my blogging friends but hopefully over the next day or so I will pay you all a visit.
I really love wood carved crafts. Our dad used to carve in wood and he always said the finished item was waiting for him in the block of wood just for him to find it :-)
Hugs,

Lovely carved pieces, it must be amazing to be able to imagine the design on the wood never mind produce it. Happy crafting, Angela x 38

Exquisite craftsmanship lovely purchase. Be well Carole #57
Hi Peggy
what great finds personally I wouldn't paint them ... the natural wood shouldn't need embellishment

What beautiful carvings, Peggy. I agree with others - don't paint them! The wood is lovely unadorned, and it would be gilding the lily. Your artwork is lovely as always. Have a great trip to Japan - I am sure you will get a lot of art inspiration there!
Happy WOYWW,
