When I first joined WOYWW, I had just cleaned up my desk and it looked oh, so neat and organized! I could almost believe it myself that I was such an organized, neat person. A place for everything and everything in it's place! Well, I wouldn't want to deceive you that my desk always looks like that and this week is an example!
This is the desk of someone who wants to get so many things done all at the same time. At first, I thought I would just work on my computer. I'm assigned to prepare a sharing about passing on our faith to our children (any advice?). Well, I started doing that but before long I decided that I also wanted to do some sewing. So my sewing machine, which is usually pushed into the corner gets into place towards the center. My daughter just got back from a few days in India and she brought home some kurta tops (you know, the embroidered long sleeved tops they wear). The seams weren't finished so I decided to finish the seams with zigzag stitches. I also wanted to cut off the sleeves of one or two of the blouses since it is quite hot in the Philippines and a short sleeved blouse would be more practical.
But wait, even before I had started, I caught sight of some old books and magazines that were supposed to get thrown out for recycling. But of course, I had to look over them first and clip out whatever I found useful.
Any pages with...
...nice patterns and pictures got saved for collages...
...portraits got saved for inspiration for art...
...colors got saved for paper beads (almost all the colored pages!)
Then, I also got the pages with interesting articles, mostly about health and beauty, diet, exercise, parenting, marriage, interior design, etc. Poor recycling bin, very little of the magazine's pages were left for recycling after I got all the pages I wanted.
What a mess! Oh, and look what my sister found while she was cleaning up - this painting and in the back, my name and my high school year and section! I wouldn't have even known I painted this if my name weren't in the back! Hmmm, not bad for a teenager, don't you think?
Well, when my desk is this messy, I can always hide it and pretend I am neat and organized...If you would like to see other work desks and their state of neatness or disarray, head on over to Julia's blog. And if you would like a chance to win one of my ATCs, I'm having a giveaway for my followers in this post. Happy blog hopping!

now, I know where you draw all your inspiration. I should be clipping those magazines I have at home too.
Oh Peggy, I love it! My desk looked like that yesterday, but I spent an hour cleaning it up this morning. In a couple of days it will be messy again! I'm a magazine clipper myself! xo
What a creative desk! I love the fact you can hide it all away too! x
I had to laugh at your post. That distraction bug has hit a lot of people lately. Being able to hide your creative clutter is so wonderful. That sewing machine looks like it has a lot of stitch options. I'm totally in love with it.
As for faith and children, I have no advice. Even Bleubeard has little faith that I'll fill his water bowl every day.
Great post - I'm so impressed by the things that sidetrack you..and you make me laugh at ripping up the magazines..you may as well have hjust kept the pile! Faith and children - starts with role modelling I guess...?
I love the way your desk is an explosion of creative energy and that there is so much going on, that is the way I love to work...although I have no way of hiding mine away so my partner does moan about the mess!
thanks for sharing

Oh this is exactly how I work - things get added to do and something else distracts me and I add that and then if something really big needs doing I push everything to one side LOL!Then I close the door on the whole room! I love your work - had a look through the rest of your blog - fab.

So lucky you can hide it all away, but I appreciate the messy desk and all the interesting glimpses of what is in progress. I get the distraction too. I am right there with you!

What a fabulous creative looking desk. Even just the pictures clipped from magazines are enough to make you want to run to your own desk and start playing!!

haha I love your desk explosion, but even more that you can close the doors on it. As we are still renovating i dont have a door on my craft room, hard to hide the mess.
Amazing painting from your school days, wish i could paint like that.
creative chaos, I love it!!!
Those tops look lovely. I did laugh though at you getting distracted and moving onto other things cause that's what I do, I start one thing and then start something else before finishing the first thing. Must be us crafters, too many things/ideas going on in our heads LOL. Have a great Wednesday, Tracy Evans x

Brilliant activity! I can sooooo relate to you desk! Leandra
I'm glad to see someone else is as easily distracted as me. Enjoy your day.

I have the same distraction problem in all areas of my life, not just crafting! Would love to have your cupboard hideaway ;-)
wow, such artist beauty! No mess in sight
Thanks for sharing Hugs Can x
i saw what you wrote on the bright side project page and it sort of hit me that the first thing that came to mind when i though of what i want to see more clearly wasnt Gods plan for my life but it should be. i have not been spending enough time with Him recently and you made me realize that i miss Him and want back into His will. thank you for the reality shock.
Were we separated at birth? That is exactly how I behave in my studio more days than I would like to share. I clean it up and within a week, my multi-tasking (ADD) has me dragging everything out again and working on five or more things at a time...
Dearest Peggy, I received the delightful ATC yesterday and I thank you for the sweet letter that accompanied it. As for selling your ATC's, I know that many don't sell and use them for trading only. Those who do sell them, call them ACEOs: Art Card Editions and Originals. These ACEOs can be anything as long as they are 2.5 by 3.5. Anyway, all of your ATC's are quite beautiful and I am happy to have one of them. Thanks again. Blessings, Vicki
Hello from Canada! Thanks for visiting my blog and your comments on my yard and my "bling".
You do some great artwork, and love your workspace! You can hide it in a hurry! LOL!
I seem to spread it all over the house!
Have a great day and visit often!
