WOYWW: Seoul

It's What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday! I just came from Seoul, Korea, and using the push back method, I made space for some tickets and brochures I collected while I was there...

as well as a little twig with flowers that was used as decoration in a dish that was served during a dinner there...

Here are a few photos from my Instagram account...

Seoul is a great place to visit!  And as always for Word Art Wednesday, a page from my journal...

Thank you for visiting me today. Be blessed, dear blog friends!

WOYWW: Easter Gifts

I've been busy!  My brother-in-law and his wife celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary last Sunday and my gift was their wedding giveaways.  This was my desk last Saturday, filled with finished bookmarks...

each with a little Holy Family charm (they have one son, just like in the charm).

And today for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, I am making a similar giveaway for a 75th birthday...

another gift to a precious friend.  I have only finished a few...

with lots more to go!

And in this Easter season, I thank God for His greatest gift to me, Jesus Christ, and what He has prepared for me through His death and resurrection...

Also sharing this with Word Art Wednesday and wishing all of you abundant Easter blessings!  You, too, my dear blog friends, are gifts to me!

WOYWW: Holy Week

For today's desk, I have a 400th Anniversary Edition of the King James Version of the bible.  It is a digital reproduction of the original one printed in 1611 (except that on was huge - 12" x 16"). Although it is very hard to read, the decorative initials, illustrated genealogy and antique font are beautiful...

Since it is the Holy Week, my illustration is a prayer from Luke 18...

I wasn't able to go visiting last week since we had a family vacation (17 of us!) to Puerto Princesa, Palawan.  Here are a few pictures that I posted in my Instagram account (peggyapl)...

The highlight of our trip for me, dolphin watching...

Sharing this in What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday and Word Art Wednesday! Have a blessed Holy Week and a joyful Easter, everyone!

WOYWW on Vacation

We are on vacation in Puerto Princesa, Palawan and I'm going to post this using my iPad so I'm keeping it short today!  Here is my desk for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, the hotel side table...

And a prayer journal illustration for Word Art Wednesday...

We will be island hopping today, rejoicing in the beauty of God's creation of family, sun, sea and sand. Perhaps I can post a few pictures after we get back. Til then, blessings to all!

WOYWW: ATCs in Progress

ATCs in progress!  This is how they looked the other day, after I shaded them using Copic markers...

and here is my desk today for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday...

The ladies now have more definition...

And for my prayer journal illustration, a verse from Mark 4...

WOYWW: The Light Shines

After a long time of not getting any art done (other than my prayer journal illustration), I started on some ATCs, first gluing on book paper backgrounds and then painting over it.  Yay!

I am practicing a more "painterly" style than my usual style in my prayer journal illustration.

Today is the 40th day since my mother passed away.  In the Philippines, we usually mark this day with a memorial mass and a "celebration" dinner.  Don't ask me why, I have no idea. Although it has been a difficult time, these words from John 1:5 describe how God's love and his promises of eternal life have been a light to overcome the darkness of grief.

And as I am in the habit of doing, I share my desk with Julia and the WOYWWers and my illustration with Word Art Wednesday. Blessings to you today as you visit me.

WOYWW: Lenten Tidy up

I have finally gotten some order back into my desk and have made some space to work on! And in preparation for our WOYWW anniversary ATC swap, I've unearthed my box of ATC blanks and WIP.  Perhaps I will also do some trades in ATCs for All since it's been a while since I did that...

On the left side of my desk is a pile of books I bought from a bargain bookstore.  One of the books is a chronological Bible.  The readings are not arranged in the usual way, but in chronological order...

In this season of Lent, when I want to not only tidy up my desk, but other areas of my life as well, God's Word is my guide...

In the words of St. Jerome, "Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ."  Sharing this in Word Art Wednesday.

Thank you for dropping by!  Blessings to all!

WOYWW: In Dire Need of a Tidy Up

Even the push back method could not help my desk today for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  The pile is just too high!  On top of the pile are some materials for a collage I am planning to make, including an old "Barong Tagalog," traditional Filipino formal wear for men...

some locally produced Human Nature products (no chemicals) and seed pods...

and one of my prayer journal illustrations for Word Art Wednesday, with a blessing for you, my dear blog visitors! Thank you for your encouragement.  It is much appreciated!

WOYWW: United Nations

My hubby, who is president of the Philippine Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons just finished the convention they planned for a year and he came home with some gifts from some of the speakers they invited.  Of course, he knew that I would be interested in the wrapping paper...

as well as the lovely souvenirs from Thailand, Japan and Korea...

And because for us, Catholics, it is the start of the Lenten season today, my prayer is that this time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving will draw me closer to God that I may be able to hear him and obey him more and more.

Sharing with my blog friends in What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday and Word Art Wednesday.  Have a blessed week!

WOYWW: Gratitude and Grief

I missed WOYWW last week.  The first time in a long time.  It was my Mom's funeral. On my desk today are the stuff I brought home from the hospital.  Our community songbook, from which we sang so many songs as we stayed by her as she peacefully passed away.  A little bible and prayer book from which we read to her even when she could no longer respond. And novena prayers...

As Roman Catholics we pray for those who have gone before us and we also ask them to pray for us, just like we do for friends and family who are alive, because we believe that they live on...

Last January 12, Mommy turned 80 years old and I felt happy she reached that age because the bible says in Psalm 90:10 "Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures".

It is hard to get used to being one person less in our family gatherings.  We are always together since we all live so close to each other.  But God's grace is abundant and we have been able to be grateful for the time she had with us, for the full and blessed life she had and for 80 years of God's faithfulness.  As I said in my eulogy (in the previous post), no goodbyes, because the faith that she passed on to me, makes me certain that she lives on.

Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement during this difficult time.  It is wonderful how my web friends, people I have never even met in person, have helped me cope during this time.  It is much appreciated.  Blessings to all!
