What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday: All Sorts

Another week has whizzed past and without a blog post in between, at least there is What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday to push me to make a post!   On my desk today is a lovely Japanese doll ATC from Teng.  We traded in ATCs for ALL, a great place for beginners to start trading ATCs.

I have finished another one of my prayer journals and I'm planning to scan some of the images to share with you.  That's the first image that's peeping out from behind the Paris journal which is the new journal I've started.

My husband had a bible with a cover that was peeling off so he gave it to me and I started altering the cover by using image transfers (video tutorial here).

If you were here last week, you may be wondering about my coming giveaway.  No, I have not made my giveaway post yet.  Hopefully, I will get it done before next Wednesday!  And hopefully my internet connection will be fixed and I can go visiting the interesting desks from around the world joining WOYWW!

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday: Backgrounds

Happy Wednesday (or whatever day you drop by), dearest blog friends!  I really appreciate all your visits and comments!  Our internet connection still isn't behaving and to post this, I've had to "borrow" our neighbor's connection.  Good thing our neighbor is my sister Patsy, who is also a WOYWWer.  She would understand why I just HAVE to make a blog post today!  Wednesday just wouldn't be complete without WOYWW!

Nothing much on my desk except some backgrounds that I am thinking of working on.  I still haven't made my giveaway post for my giveaway girls (blame it on my internet woes)!  And Julia over at the Stamping Ground already has the WOYWW link up so I'd better link up!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday: Goodies

Every Wednesday, Julia has a WOYWW link party and we show off our desks, whatever state it's in.  Because of the rains (I suppose), our internet connection hasn't been behaving so I've hardly been able to go visiting.  Sorry about that!  

On my desk today are some goodies I received in the mail.  A lovely zentangle seahorse ATC and fan tag from Shoshi...

and a wonderful butterfly themed screen card that I won from Cindy.  Wow, am I not soooo blessed?!

My giveaway paintings are almost done.  Just a fixative spray and as soon as I scan them, I will make a giveaway post.  Make sure to come back and visit if you want to have a chance to win one of them.

Recognizing Jesus

All around us, after the heavy rains of last week, there are people whose homes have been damaged and whose possessions have been washed away.  Some have even lost loved ones.  During times like this, I think of the words in Matthew 25:35-40, "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me." Then the righteous will answer him and say, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or see you thisty and give you drink?".. The king will say to them in reply, "Amen, I say to you, whatever you did to one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me."

And so, as I look around me at all the people in need specially after the floods of last week, I hope that I can recognize Jesus, in what Mother Teresa calls, "his distressing disguise"  and do my part in helping him.

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday: Image Transfers

We've been having non-stop heavy rains, rains, rains here in the Philippines, with rivers overflowing and flooding all over!  Fortunately, we live in a high place but so many of our friends have had to evacuate their homes.  We are praying for the rains to stop.

With no work because of the rains, I have had time to have a tidy up and work on my giveaway girls.  I  am planning to add some text, so I cut up some text (reversed and printed using a copier).

I'm going to use the direct image transfer method described in this video....

I received some wonderful ATCs from Nydia, BJ and Kate, who asked to trade with me (for my Filipina in Terno series).  I haven't received addresses from some of you so I guess I have to resend my emails.

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday: A Jumble of Projects

If ever there was a time when I was tempted to do a bit of tidying up before I took my weekly WOYWW picture, it was this week!  There's been very little progress on my Giveaway girls (I will have a giveaway soon and will let the winner pick one!)  because I have been busy learning Adobe Photoshop and making a poster for a prayer rally in November.

For those of you who enjoy a peek into my prayer journal, here is a page illustrating Psalm 147...

And beside it I copied out a quotation about prayer from John Tauler, a German preacher from the Middle Ages, "For my part, I tell you only this: truly detach yourself from yourself and from all created things and raise your soul wholly to God above all creatures, into the deep abyss. There, immerse your spirit in God’s spirit in true abandonment…, in a real union with God…, Ask God there for everything he wants us to ask him, what you desire and what other people desire from you. And hold this as certain: what a tiny, little coin is with regard to a hundred thousand gold pieces, that is what all external prayer is with regard to this prayer, which is a real union with God, and with regard to this inflowing and fusion of the created spirit in the uncreated spirit of God…"
