WOYWW: Faithfulness

Every Wednesday, as much as possible, a group of faithful WOYWWers post pictures of their desks (and all sorts of other things as well) for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  It is usually hosted by Julia, who is presently recovering from an operation.  Thanks to Lunch Lady Jan, the weekly blog party, continues...

There's not much progress in my main desk but I have finally gotten my prayer desk back to normal.  It is a lot easier to be faithful to my morning quiet time if my desk is tidy!

How reassuring to know that God is faithful even when we are unfaithful.  He loved us first!  A blessed week ahead, everyone!

WOYWW: Last Week's Post

I had problems with my computer last week, so here is last week's post for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday!  I couldn't resist showing you this hand lettered box that my brother made to package one of his gifts...

a mini folder decorated with some pretty weaving (although I must have shown it to you before)...

a painting my sister Patsy gave me last Christmas, or was it my birthday?...

and one of journal illustrations...

That is such a blurry picture!  Anyway, I love this verse from Romans 1:7.  This is how I see myself - beloved of God and called to holiness (well, I'm working on it!)

Have a blessed week, everyone!

WOYWW: WIP

There's nothing interesting on my main desk so for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, I'm featuring my prayer desk, all nice and tidy with my bible opened up to a WIP illustration.

And to show you what I've been up to this past week, here's a picture of me and my hubby during our office costume party.

What about you?  What have you been up to?

WOYWW: Contrasts

It's What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday and my post today is a study in contrasts. My prayer desk is neat and tidy, with only what's necessary on it - my journaling bible, my prayer journal, a little basket box of my basic pens and a pencil, some colored pencils...

In contrast, this is my main desk today...

I can hardly see the desktop because it is full of all sorts of stuff I need to put away. Seems like only my laptop is where it should be. And so of course, I can't get any work done on this desk.

I can't help but think about life and how I can't get anything done if my life is so full of unnecessary things. What should I get rid of, I wonder? Too much memorabilia? Old clothes that no longer fit? Pride and impatience for sure!  Something to think about for me.  I guess it is a never ending cycle of tidying up and messing up - my desk, and my life.  Hopefully, it is more often tidy.

Happy WOYWW, everyone!  Thank you for dropping by!

WOYWW: All Saints Day

My prayer desk seems to be getting really small and there is hardly any space to work on an entry in my journaling bible. Time for a tidy up! And this isn't even my main desk!

Last Sunday was All Saints Day, a big day in the Philippines. The cemeteries are super packed on that day so we usually go a few days before. Visiting the graves of loved ones that have gone on before us makes me think about the end of this life and the promises of God for the next. One of them is that...

A wonderful promise, my name inscribed in heaven. And so although goodbyes are always painful (even the passing on of fellow WOYWWers that I've never met saddened me), my greatest consolation is the hope of eternal life.

My Mom used to go to mass every day and one of the other daily mass goers would say goodbye afterwards by saying, "See you in heaven!" When my mom passed away, we had the wake in the hall beside the church she went to every day. What a surprise we had the following day when we found out that her friend from mass had also passed away and the wake was in the hall upstairs! What a wonderful thought that they would, indeed, see each other in heaven.

That's it for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday and Word Art Wednesday. Happy WOYWW and WAW!

WOYWW: Fear of Blank Pages?

My new bible journal is still blank, waiting for me to make the first illustration on its wide margins.  I guess I am a little bit afraid of starting on those nice blank spaces.  Have you ever felt that way with a new sketchbook or journal?

I finally took off the plastic wrap and turned it to the verse I've decided I will illustrate first, one of my favorite verses, "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33.  Hopefully, by next week, I can show you what I have done for my "Illustrated Faith" project.

You may think I have gotten my desk cleared up but I guess there is always something that comes along to fill it up.  This time it is some clearbook binders which I will use to organize some travel memorabilia. See how I have again used the push back method to make some space!

That's it for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday this week.  And for Word Art Wednesday, an illustration for my reflection on John 15:19...

Wishing you a blessed week!

WOYWW: Illustrated Faith

Look what just arrived! A new "canvas" for my bible verse illustrations. This bible has wide margins that are great for journaling and illustrations...

I've been using my new brush pens. I need more practice!

Sharing this tidied up desk in What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday and my illustrations in Word Art Wednesday.

WOYWW: What!?

It's Wednesday already?! Oh my, I was tempted to clear up some space on my desk using the push back method just for a picture for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday! But it is so full that even that method can't work! That wire basket is filled with odds and ends bought when I was in Tokyo recently. I haven't finished putting them away.  Looking at this picture (and thinking of how horrified the neat WOYWWers will be) has given me the added push to tidy up!  I hope to show you a freshly cleaned desk next week!

At times, in life we also find ourselves in a mess and this verse from Ephesians tells us that we need to tidy up to get out of the mess.

Sharing this with Word Art Wednesday.

WOYWW: Art Materials

My desk has new art materials from my trip to Tokyo, Japan...
a set of Zig Brush Pens...

and Japanese watercolors.

And here is one of my prayer journal illustrations...

my excuse for always buying art materials!

That's it for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday and Word Art Wednesday.  Thank you for dropping by!

WOYWW: Painting

Yay, I've been painting! I cleared up my desk to make space for a 20" x 24" canvas that I started on last Friday...

and here it is today for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Then, last Saturday, my sister Patsy had a Paint Party in her house and I joined in...

We are making paintings that will be exhibited together with many more.  Our collective paintings will be entitled "We are God's Garden" from 1 Corinthians 3:9.

Hopefully, the garden of my life will be filled with flowers and not weeds! Sharing this in Word Art Wednesday.

Blessings to you, dear blog friends!

WOYWW: Destination Creativity

For  What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, my desk is in the middle of a tidy up. I rearranged my drawer...

and found stuff like these angel paper clips.

There was a sale in one of the second hand bookshops and I often visit and I found some great books for ₱35 (less than £ .50)!  Destination Creativity, The Pulse of Mixed Media, Objects of Reflection - lots of inspiration to be found in these books!  Creativity is my excuse for a messy desk!

And for my journal illustration for Word Art Wednesdaya reminder that in the midst of the mess that we sometimes find ourselves in, we can have the peace that Jesus gives.

Peace be with you, dear blog friends.

WOYWW: Happy 40th Anniversary Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon!

Last Sunday, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of our prayer community, Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon (The Joy of the Lord).  For our celebration, we all came in "Filipiniana" outfits and on my desk today for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday are some of the accessories I wore or considered to wear...

I wore a T'boli blouse with these beads I bought in General Santos City.

"The Tboli are one of the indigenous peoples of South Cotabato in Southern Mindanao" -Wikipedia.  The blouse is filled with wonderful applique and embroidery...

See the 40th anniversary logo my daughter designed?  And the banner that I designed...

"Starting out with 41 men and women in July 1975, the Ligaya now counts some 1,900 members (including children of all ages) from diverse socio-economic backgrounds bound by the common desire to live out the Christian life to the fullest and to serve the Church as a body." - LNP website

And so we celebrate God's goodness and faithfulness to us through all these years.  When we offer him whatever little we have, like the little boy and his 5 loaves and 2 fishes, our mustard seed faith can grow and become the largest of all garden plants...

Be blessed, dear blog friends!

WOYWW: Inspiration

Is it just me or are the days flying by so quickly for you, too?  Seems like it was just Wednesday and now it is time to post again for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday!  Here is some pretty paper packaging that I saved from a box of some Japanese sweets...

I will use it for collaging and for inspiration to draw some flowers.  More inspiration to be found in this new book I bought from a Filipino author, Abbey Sy...

and a journal illustration for Word Art Wednesday with some hand lettering inspired by the book...

"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."

What a wonderful reminder from scripture! Thank you for dropping by, dear blog friends!  Be blessed!

WOYWW: Cats

Look what, or rather, who, is on my desk for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday   Such a beautiful work of art if you ask me! Her name is Truffles and she has taken over my desk. And while I'm on the subject of cats, I though you would enjoy seeing the CEO (Cat Executive Officer) of our family business. Oreo comes to work with us most days...

Would you like an officemate like him?

For Word Art Wednesday, a verse that speaks of the sheep recognizing the Shepherd's voice.  May I always recognize my Shepherd's voice.  Blessings to all of you! Thank you for dropping by!

WOYWW: New

What a difference a weekend makes!  This edition of What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday features a much tidier desk than last week, thanks to a tidy up during the weekend.  The only things in the center (because of course, I used the push back method) are a few charms and bookplates I bought in a craft sale...

and a prayer journal illustration with a set of pens I used on it...

I'm reminded of a wonderful verse in Lamentations 3:22-23, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

And so, I rely on God's mercy for all that is not right in my life and in the lives of those I love.  Praise God that his mercies are new every morning!

Have a great week, dear blog friends.  Thank you for dropping by!
