Look what, or rather, who, is on my desk for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday   Such a beautiful work of art if you ask me! Her name is Truffles and she has taken over my desk. And while I'm on the subject of cats, I though you would enjoy seeing the CEO (Cat Executive Officer) of our family business. Oreo comes to work with us most days...

WOYWW: Ash Wednesday

My 98 year old Auntie Eliza died last night and we had a late night so I almost forgot that today is a Wednesday and time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  My main desk did not stay tidy for long and even my prayer desk is filled.  There is a book about Jesus that we are studying, my copy of The Word Among Us and one of my prayer journal illustrations, just in time for Ash Wednesday today...

"Ash Wednesday, a day of fasting, is the first day of Lent in Western Christianity... Ashes are ceremonially placed on the heads of Christians on Ash Wednesday, more often by being marked on their foreheads as a visible cross. The words used traditionally to accompany this gesture are: 

Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return. 

In the 1969 revision of the Roman Rite, an alternative formula was introduced and given first place: 

Repent, and believe in the Gospel. 

The old formula, based on the words spoken to Adam and Eve after their sin, reminds worshippers of their sinfulness and mortality and thus, implicitly, of their need to repent in time." - Wikipedia

Last Sunday, it was the first death anniversary of my Mom, and on Monday we were back in the same hospital where she died to bring my Auntie.  Indeed, we are dust and to dust we shall return.  A blessed Lenten season to you, if you celebrate the season.

WOYWW: My Prayer Desk

I did not think you would want another peek at my tidy desk so I am showing you what my prayer desk looks like every morning.  This is the desk beside my bed and I keep my bible, prayer journal and basic art materials for my morning quiet time here.  There is the iPad where I read the daily reflections in the Evangelizo and Laudate apps.  

As I reflect on the verse for the day, I make illustrations which I often share in Word Art Wednesday.  Let my heart be as the rich soil and let the seeds of God's word go deep down and grow and bear fruit. 

I started trading ATCs again in ATCs for All and here are some of the beautiful cards I received from there, as well as from trades for the What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday Anniversary!  It's wonderful to receive these beauties in the mail!

WOYWW: Truffles Take Over

My desk has been taken over by Truffles and she is exploring the mess I've made while finishing some ATCs.  It seems the only flat place left to sit is on top of my computer!

She's found dried flowers from Mother's Day way up on the shelves...

She looks like she's the boss, doesn't she?

Happy New Year!

Joyful New Year greetings to all of my wonderful blog visitors!  Thank you very much for your encouragement all throughout 2013, especially during the times when I've found it challenging to return your visits.

This first What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday post finds my desk in need of a cleanup.  There is a wonderful pile of magazines that I won from Jean of Bluebirds Living in the Meadow long ago.  I had it sent to my brother in law in the US so he could send it to me and it arrived just before Christmas.  A wonderful surprise since I had forgotten all about it!  Lots of inspiration for the new year!

Another surprise, our cat, Truffles, who the vet said was having a false pregnancy (They even took an x-ray and said there were no kittens), gave birth to three kittens!  

Ah, life is full of surprises and we know not what the future holds!

WOYWW: Goodies from Singapore

Happy What's on your Workdesk Wednesday!  I've just gotten back from a trip to Singapore and here is our cat Truffles inspecting what's new on my desk - a desk mat from Ikea and a folding laptop desk (polka dotted) for when I want to work in bed.  I always come home from a trip with some maps and souvenirs...

and I have a new stamp carving kit from Art Friend (I hope I get to use it!)
