WOYWW: Yes, You Can

Today I'm sharing 2 illustrations to show you how I often make illustrations on the two facing pages of my prayer journal have matching color schemes.

As I write each word, and draw and paint, I reflect on the Word for the day.  Thank you, Lord for the words of eternal life.  Thank you for abundant life.

WOYWW: My Prayer Desk

I did not think you would want another peek at my tidy desk so I am showing you what my prayer desk looks like every morning.  This is the desk beside my bed and I keep my bible, prayer journal and basic art materials for my morning quiet time here.  There is the iPad where I read the daily reflections in the Evangelizo and Laudate apps.  

As I reflect on the verse for the day, I make illustrations which I often share in Word Art Wednesday.  Let my heart be as the rich soil and let the seeds of God's word go deep down and grow and bear fruit. 

I started trading ATCs again in ATCs for All and here are some of the beautiful cards I received from there, as well as from trades for the What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday Anniversary!  It's wonderful to receive these beauties in the mail!

WOYWW: Truffles Take Over

My desk has been taken over by Truffles and she is exploring the mess I've made while finishing some ATCs.  It seems the only flat place left to sit is on top of my computer!

She's found dried flowers from Mother's Day way up on the shelves...

She looks like she's the boss, doesn't she?

WOYWW: ATCs and Gel Medium

I can't believe it is time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday again!  I thought I would try to greet everyone a Happy WOYWW Anniversary last week but the week seemed to go extra quickly!  I am still making ATCs and this time, I'm putting words on them...

I make a photocopy of the mirror image of a word, and use gel medium to paste it face down on the card...

When the gel medium is dry, I rub off the paper with a wet finger and the word gets transferred to the card!  Here is one I've finished rubbing...

I am still celebrating the WOYWW anniversary and if you asked for a trade, I'll have some new cards ready to trade soon!

WOYWW: The Light Shines

After a long time of not getting any art done (other than my prayer journal illustration), I started on some ATCs, first gluing on book paper backgrounds and then painting over it.  Yay!

I am practicing a more "painterly" style than my usual style in my prayer journal illustration.

Today is the 40th day since my mother passed away.  In the Philippines, we usually mark this day with a memorial mass and a "celebration" dinner.  Don't ask me why, I have no idea. Although it has been a difficult time, these words from John 1:5 describe how God's love and his promises of eternal life have been a light to overcome the darkness of grief.  

And as I am in the habit of doing, I share my desk with Julia and the WOYWWers and my illustration with Word Art Wednesday. Blessings to you today as you visit me.

WOYWW: ATCs, Etc.

The days go by so quickly and before I know it, it's time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday!  I finally did some tidying up but as you can see,  I used the push back method to make space for a box filled with ATCs, both finished and unfinished.  I brought the box with me to a "paint party" my sister Patsy had last Friday (a holiday here in the Philippines).  Let me know if you would like one of these ATCs and I'll pick a name to send one to!

While tidying up, I found this old bible comic book.  I am thinking it can help me draw men if I keep looking at it, since I only like drawing girls...

Here is an illustration from my prayer journal for Word Art Wednesday, with a reminder that God works wonders.  We are claiming this as we pray for my Mom's healing.

WOYWW Prayer Journals

For What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, I have a different desk to show you.  It is my bedside desk which I cleared to make space for my quiet time in the morning, including my basic watercolors and colored pencils for the illustrations I like to make when meditating on a bible verse.  I don't always get to finish them in the morning, so here you see I've been coloring some past day's illustrations.

I received a wonderfully colorful ATC from Neil and here it is on top of my journal.  You can't see it from this photo but it has an amazingly shiny finish that makes it look like stained glass or ceramic tile. Thanks, Neil!  I'll get your ATC to you as soon as possible!

WOYWW: Home Sweet Home

Happy What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday!  I just woke up after our flight from Budapest and I got home to a wonderful pile of WOYWW Anniversary ATCs.  I am so pleased with the new ATCs from Jo (Twiglet), Annie, Christine (Bishopsmate), Maisie Moonshine, Lisa and Kate.  

Beautiful additions to my collection!  Of course I have to finish addressing envelopes and sending the ATCs I owe to these lovely ladies and that's what's on my desk as well.

I enjoyed the flea markets in Berlin and Budapest (I guess it is a good thing I don't live in Europe or I would be in the flea markets ALL the time!)  Here are some of my "treasures." I hope the watch I bought for 5 Euros will work when I change the battery...
