Filipina

I don't think I have shown you this painting yet.  It  is a 5.8" x 8.3" mixed media painting I made last year for a charity art auction organized by the Kidney Friends Foundation to benefit families of kidney patients.  This is one of the few original paintings I have sold.

This "Filipina" is wearing the traditional Filipiniana "Terno" dress with embroidered butterfly sleeves.  I made this using my favorite technique of watercolor and colored pencils on a gessoed background (tutorial here).

If you are interested, check out my previous posts for a peek at my new ATCs and my painted "night and day" fan.

  9. Very beautiful, Peggy. You have a real talent for doing faces. I've never tried painting with watercolors and pencils on gesso. It sounds like it would be difficult to control. However, you have managed to make it work beautifully.
