WOYWW: Two Desks

What's on Your Workdesk this Wednesday?  Nothing arts and crafty on my main desk but there is a very interesting newspaper article featuring my high school classmate.  It says skin-to-skin contact between a mother and her baby immediately after birth and breastfeeding are essential and reduce the preventable causes of deaths in newborns.

And there are three miniature books (one of my many collections) that my brother gave me...

There is more art on my prayer desk, where I am finishing the illustrations for the past 2 days...

Even if I start an illustration during morning prayers and reflection, I often have to finish it later, coloring it in and adding some details.

Here is one illustration for Word Art Wednesday.  It's been a busy weekend and still another one ahead! I hope all is well with you.

  1. Bonjour chère amie,

Un joli petit clin d'oeil sur ce bureau chargé de couleurs, de choses importantes comme cette dernière création magnifique... un bureau chargé d'âme.
    Gros bisous ♡

  3. Oh Peggy how I love your art - you are so gifted with your illustrations. Your desks are so sweet - love that article, I have always believed that cuddles and babies go together, and those miniature books are fabulous

  4. Beautiful art as always.
No early morning twinnie fun for me today as I'm recovering from a chesty cold caught from them last week so I'm able to have a leisurely snoop round the Wednesday desks :-)

  6. Yes, it is a known fact about babies. Years ago 'kangerooing' was in vogue, where mothers of premature babies were alowed to take them out of the incubator once a day strap the baby onto their bare breast in a purpose built strap/coccoon. Warm and cosy on mummy's body.
Thank you for sharing your lovely art and Bible verse. I always look forward to reading your post.
    Have a great week,

PS I'm thinking of our fellow desk hopper Shoshi today who's operation has been postponed yet again! I can't imagine how she must be feeling.I'm sure you'll join me in prayer for her and her husband.

  7. Peggy, what a beautiful post. I have read that denying babies physical contact and hugs actually leads to brain damage because it is this loving contact that helps the brain to grow and mature. God certainly knows what He is doing! What beautiful art, too - as always!

Thank you for a lovely comment. I am feeling quite OK about everything at the moment and really feeling the effect of answered prayer - prayer that I discovered last week that is going up from 5 of the 7 continents of the world! Isn't that amazing?

Surgeons in the UK are called "Mr." because of a very old tradition. Centuries ago, physicians were qualified doctors, and were always called "Dr." Operations were not conducted by doctors, but by barber-surgeons. This is the origin of the red-and-white striped pole which is the sign of the barbershop - representing a bloody bandage!! They also had loud music (the origin of the barbershop quartet perhaps?) to drown out the screams!! Of course, these barber-surgeons were not qualified doctors, so they retained the title "Mr." This is why a surgeon in the UK today begins his medical training as a "Mr." and then becomes a "Dr." on qualifying, and then goes back to being a "Mr." again when he becomes a surgeon! This is what happened to my dad, who was an eye surgeon. I am glad that we have retained this interesting tradition.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  8. PS A big thank you to Lisca who has added the P.S. about me and my postponed surgery on every comment she has made on this week's WOYWW. I really appreciate this, and for her continuing prayers, and the fact that she has asked others to pray for me also. May God bless her.
