What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday: Signs of Christmas

It's that time of the week again and here is my desk showing my attempt at getting some Christmas gifts wrapped.  All throughout the year, I buy presents and put them away somewhere and sometimes I can't find them so I have decided to start wrapping early (or at least to try).

I'm using kraft paper, recycled bond paper and ribbon I bought on sale last week, together with all sorts of other craft materials.  These are some I haven't found a place for yet...

My latest Madonna is done and although the picture doesn't show it, her halo, veil and dress and the flowers have bits of gold that my daughter says makes a big difference in how it looks...

And here are some flowers made by an inmate in the jail we visit every Friday.  They are woven out of paper covered in cellophane.  Aren't they amazing?

Julia, who hosts the WOYWW link party says "Reciprocal visits are polite" and I am so sorry to say, I haven't been polite.  The internet connection inside my room is (again) not working so it's been challenging to go visiting.  The week just seems to go by so quickly.  My sister Patsy gives out an ATC to make up for not visiting and I've decided to give one out this week as well.  Let me know if you want an ATC from me and I'll pick a name from my visitors this week.  And as always, I will also try to visit back.  Hope springs eternal!

  12. I'm always blown away by the art on your blog, and today is no exception. Inspiring, as ever. And no need for a visit, or an ATC. I visited you because I wanted to, not because I expected anything back.

    Have a very happy WOYWW,

  13. Beautiful Madonnas, and while I agree that the gold illumination makes it really special, there's also something very lovely about the simple version in the background. Great wrapping on the gifts! Thanks for your visit and happy WOYWW!

  17. You are organised to be wrapping gifts already. I am still struggling to get the last few cards made.
I agree that a touch of gold can work magic on a picture, though your painting are so beautiful, they don't really need any magic!
I'd love to be lucky enough to be chosen for one of your ATCs, and I am sure I could manage to send a swap back.
As you say, Hope springs eternal...

  19. Oh Peggy, what beautiful paintings, as usual! Your art is always so stunning... Also the woven flowers are amazing, and it's lovely to know that the inmates have someone like you to visit them, and that they are encouraged to be so creative. Such beautiful work!

I'd absolutely love an ATC from you, so please pop my name in the hat!! Sorry you've been having Internet problems. Our broadband speed is so slow and sometimes pages won't load properly, which is a real bore, and last week it was off altogether for 2 whole evenings.

Thank you for your lovely comments - so glad you like my projects. I enjoy doing step-by-step posts, and it's often quite useful if I want to refer back to how I did a particular project or technique. My hubby is fine now - just feeling a bit tired after being so poorly, but we had a friend round last night, and my hubby managed to eat all his dinner without any complaints lol! He's out and about working today, so I think he's well and truly over it now. It's a very nasty bug that's going round.

    Happy WOYWW,

  20. I'd love an ATC if I happened to win it. I can't visit everyone so I visit all those who have the same end number as me, eg this week I am 117, so I went to 7, 17 etc. I also try and comment on the woyww posts of those whose blogs I follow. I rarely make it back to those who visit me who aren't in those groups though and sometimes it is only those whose blogs I follow anyway. There are just so many desks and so little time! I think it is lovely of you to think about it and offer a giveaway.

The Madonna is gorgeous, the gold in the halo gives it such a lift.

  33. I would love an ATC from you! The latest Madonna is beautiful, and I agree that little glimmers of gold really make an elegant expression. Great way to wrap your gifts, and a good idea to do it as you buy...except if sneaky little people find them early! I am just starting to learn about ATC's, do you have a good site for how tos?
