What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday: Jornada Mundial de la Juventud
On my "desk" for today (although this is really a hotel bed in Madrid, Spain), are my neglected journal (hardly any time to write on it, I just keep scribbling notes to remind me about how my day's sked went), and some of the booklets and things (fan and hat) in the "Pilgrim's Pack" for participants of World Youth Day.
Whaaaaat? Is anyone saying I am too old for World Youth Day (Jornada Mundial de la Juventud in Spanish)? Well, I say, "Soy joven en mi corazón!" (I am young in my heart!)
It is a wonderful experience to be in a place filled with young people from all over the world, in an event which, in the words of the Archbishop of Madrid, "will allow them to discover the rich expression of culture and faith within the Catholic Church, and discover the universality of the Church as well as the evangelical renewal of the Christian faith expressed by each culture and country."
For a look at some real desks, visit Julia's Stamping Ground for the list. Happy WOYWW everyone! So sorry but I'm too busy with WYD to visit the WOYWW desks this week!
That is SO COOL that you are able to be there for this event in Madrid! I got to see Pope John Paul II in Baltimore, Maryland, USA in 1995? ...I think. Thanks for sharing snippets! It has to be totally awesome! -Amanda
ReplyDeleteYou are never too old....I tried growing up once and didn't like it much so wont be trying that again :-)
ReplyDeleteGuhs,
A x
Have fun - hope to hear more about it when you get home.
ReplyDeleteI envy you. you are a participant in WYD 2011. I loved every minute of it when we hosted the WYP sometime in 1996 with Pope John Paul 11. it was an inspiring moment for me to see him just an arm length.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful trip... thanks for sparing time out to share your bed/desk. The journal will be there to make when you get home so the notes and photos will be enough for now...

Hello Peggy! I agree age is only a numerical indicator of being young. The real measure of being young is indeed found in the heart. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteAging is definite but growing up is optional!!! You stay young at heart, I'll join you :D xx
ReplyDeleteHope your time there is a blessing to you - Hazel WOYWW #65 x

Congrats on attending the event in Madrid. A friend of mine told me it is a big deal in the church. I think getting old is overrated and I plan on staying young at heart. We will have more fun. Have a great week. Vickie
ReplyDeleteEnjoying your trip. Envious of the bed in Spain!
ReplyDeleteI think its awesome to be at a youth day! I LOVE young people, I find them so exciting and willing to make mistakes. Old people (OK 'older') bore me, no sense of adventure!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Happy WOYWW
Age is a state of mind...just don't tell your body!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy WYD and Madrid! I would have loved to be there as well..the experience is such a blessing!
ReplyDeleteHow fantastic that you are there for this event. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAm sure you will be able to write up your journal later from the brief notes you have taken.
Thanks for sharing- Neet #19
