WOYWW: Anniversaries

The What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday anniversary is coming up soon and as I looked at my prayer desk today, I realized that there are anniversary themed stuff on it, too!  My hubby and I celebrated our anniversary last April 20 and this is the paperbag my son, Chris wrapped his gift in...

Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon (The Joy of the Lord), the community I belong to, is celebrating 40 years in July this year and I am designing the stage.  Here is a study I made...

God has been so faithful to us as a community.  An excerpt from the Ligaya website says, "Starting out with 41 men and women in July 1975, the Ligaya now counts some 1,900 members (including children of all ages) from diverse socio-economic backgrounds bound by the common desire to live out the Christian life to the fullest and to serve the Church as a body."

And so, because of God's generosity and faithfulness, "it is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard." Acts 4:20

Today, I am also grateful that Mary Jane Veloso was spared from death last night. "Veloso was arrested in Indonesia in April 2010 for allegedly smuggling 2.6 kilograms of heroin in a suitcase. She has maintained her innocence, claiming that she was duped into carrying the suitcase after her godsister convinced her to go to Indonesia after losing a job in Malaysia." - Wikipedia

Well, that is such a serious topic for a WOYWW post but WOYWW is, after all, not just about desks, but about everything else that matters, at least that's how it's turned out to be after all these years of showing off desks.  Happy WOYWW, everyone!

WOYWW: Kitchen Stuff, etc.

I've been doing some organizing of a different sort!  I've been cleaning up and getting rid of old stuff in the kitchen, so my desk has some new knives and cooking utensils that I bought to replace them.

There is also a bag I used when I went to a wedding last weekend.  No, I didn't make it but I thought you would like the embroidery and beads...

Here is today's work in progress in my prayer journal...

and a finished illustration...

My major kitchen clean-up has kept me too busy to go desk hopping, so I only managed a few visits. Where does all the time go and why does it seem to go so much faster compared to when I was young!

WOYWW: Puerto Galera

It seems that the Weekly What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday link party is the only reason my blog still gets updated!  The WOYWW anniversary is coming up and hopefully I will be able to get some ATCs done.  My main desk is still filled with the mess of travel stuff that needs to be put away so I am showing you my prayer desk with an acrylic painting I made while helping my niece practice painting.

There is also a prayer journal from my future daughter-in-law.  It has a wonderful reminder...

Here is my WIP journal illustration for today.

And the reason I haven't gotten to do much blog visiting - a trip to Puerto Galera...

And as usual, more pictures in Instagram (of arts and crafts:@peggy_aplSEEDS, and of my travels: @peggyapl)

WOYWW: Happy Easter!

Happy Easter season!  I did some tidying up and so there is a clear space on my desk.  I even fixed the shelves on top, just in time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

Here is a mixed media piece I did recently...

and some typography practice on a little mini pad I sometimes bring along.

For Word Art Wednesday, my prayer journal illustration for Easter proclaims, "He is risen!"

The Easter message of Pope Francis echoes this same joyful truth...

"The Church throughout the world echoes the angel’s message to the women: “Do not be afraid! I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised… Come, see the place where he lay” ( Mt 28:5-6).

This is the culmination of the Gospel, it is the Good News par excellence: Jesus, who was crucified, is risen! This event is the basis of our faith and our hope. If Christ were not raised, Christianity would lose its very meaning; the whole mission of the Church would lose its impulse, for this is the point from which it first set out and continues to set out ever anew. The message which Christians bring to the world is this: Jesus, Love incarnate, died on the cross for our sins, but God the Father raised him and made him the Lord of life and death. In Jesus, love has triumphed over hatred, mercy over sinfulness, goodness over evil, truth over falsehood, life over death.

That is why we tell everyone: “Come and see!” In every human situation, marked by frailty, sin and death, the Good News is no mere matter of words, but a testimony to unconditional and faithful love: it is about leaving ourselves behind and encountering others, being close to those crushed by life’s troubles, sharing with the needy, standing at the side of the sick, elderly and the outcast… “Come and see!”: Love is more powerful, love gives life, love makes hope blossom in the wilderness.

With this joyful certainty in our hearts, today we turn to you, risen Lord!

Help us to seek you and to find you, to realize that we have a Father and are not orphans; that we can love and adore you."
A blessed and joyful Easter!

WOYWW Late Post: Coron, Palawan

I was in Coron, Palawan last Wednesday and although I made a post for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, I couldn't get it to post because our internet wasn't working well.

We went island hopping somewhere near here...

in this boat...

The water was amazing!

And for Word Art Wednesday, a verse which is even more meaningful to me after I looked out at the vastness of the sea...

A blessed Holy week to all!
