WOYWW: The Light Shines

After a long time of not getting any art done (other than my prayer journal illustration), I started on some ATCs, first gluing on book paper backgrounds and then painting over it.  Yay!

I am practicing a more "painterly" style than my usual style in my prayer journal illustration.

Today is the 40th day since my mother passed away.  In the Philippines, we usually mark this day with a memorial mass and a "celebration" dinner.  Don't ask me why, I have no idea. Although it has been a difficult time, these words from John 1:5 describe how God's love and his promises of eternal life have been a light to overcome the darkness of grief.

And as I am in the habit of doing, I share my desk with Julia and the WOYWWers and my illustration with Word Art Wednesday. Blessings to you today as you visit me.

WOYWW: Lenten Tidy up

I have finally gotten some order back into my desk and have made some space to work on! And in preparation for our WOYWW anniversary ATC swap, I've unearthed my box of ATC blanks and WIP.  Perhaps I will also do some trades in ATCs for All since it's been a while since I did that...

On the left side of my desk is a pile of books I bought from a bargain bookstore.  One of the books is a chronological Bible.  The readings are not arranged in the usual way, but in chronological order...

In this season of Lent, when I want to not only tidy up my desk, but other areas of my life as well, God's Word is my guide...

In the words of St. Jerome, "Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ."  Sharing this in Word Art Wednesday.

Thank you for dropping by!  Blessings to all!

WOYWW: In Dire Need of a Tidy Up

Even the push back method could not help my desk today for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.  The pile is just too high!  On top of the pile are some materials for a collage I am planning to make, including an old "Barong Tagalog," traditional Filipino formal wear for men...

some locally produced Human Nature products (no chemicals) and seed pods...

and one of my prayer journal illustrations for Word Art Wednesday, with a blessing for you, my dear blog visitors! Thank you for your encouragement.  It is much appreciated!

WOYWW: United Nations

My hubby, who is president of the Philippine Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons just finished the convention they planned for a year and he came home with some gifts from some of the speakers they invited.  Of course, he knew that I would be interested in the wrapping paper...

as well as the lovely souvenirs from Thailand, Japan and Korea...

And because for us, Catholics, it is the start of the Lenten season today, my prayer is that this time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving will draw me closer to God that I may be able to hear him and obey him more and more.

Sharing with my blog friends in What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday and Word Art Wednesday.  Have a blessed week!
