WOYWW: Dark and Stormy

I took this picture in the dark, without seeing what I was taking a picture of.  There was a typhoon today and no electricity.  My desk is in an alcove under a stairway and since it was dark and stormy outside, the light didn't reach my desk. So I just focused in the direction of my desk and voila! The camera flash revealed my desk for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday. (My desk is filled with memorabilia from my days as a runner.  Here is my reflection on running the race.)

Sometimes life is like that.  Stormy and dark and hard to see where it's taking us.  But when I focus on God, even if I don't see Him, even if it feels like He's nowhere to be found, I experience the truths of His Word bringing light and comfort, peace beyond understanding, and even joy. Just as God's word says in Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."  Indeed, blessed are those who have not seen and have believed. John 20:29  I'm sharing this drawing from my prayer journal in Word Art Wednesday.

It is now 11:30 in the evening and the electricity has finally come back.  Just like life, all things are passing and during the dark and stormy times, we can say, this too shall pass.

Thank you for dropping by. Blessings to all of you!

Does sound scary...Your journal page is wonderful and so is your post today...
I'm not a runner...never have been...and she was a good example for me.
In 9th grade she was always almost the last runner in the race...
but she kept working at it...never gave up...and had the FAITH ro believe that she could do it.
In her senior year she won many medals and was a lesson for me also...not to give up...

Whoops...somehow in my above post I deleted a sentence about MY DAUGHTER being a runner...

Beautiful illustration of the Hebrews scripture. I'm glad you got your electricity back fairly soon.

You're probably quite used to typhoons, I'm a bit thrilled by the idea of it! At first sight, I thought that was a car licence plate, and hey, just when you think you might know someone a little, there's another surprise. As runner huh! that's very impressive! And then my eye fell immediately onto the spiral bound scrapbook....oh my, my childhood holidays and memories are collected in many such scrapbooks.

Hi Peggy,

What a great post. The photo came out perfectly, no matter if there was light or not.

I have never been a runner. I couldn't figure out how to breathe right and would always end up with a hitch in my side and not a good taste in my mouth.

Love your journal page - and definitely fits in with the loss of electricity!

Thank you for visiting me. It's always nice of you to pop in!

Happy WOYWW

You are coming up with a lot of my favourite Scriptures at the moment, Peggy! Heb. 11:1 is another one! Love your busy, creative desk. Here in the UK we are always complaining about the weather (national pastime lol!) but we should be thankful we don't have typhoons... Thanks for your lovely encouraging comment on my blog. We are hoping for a more peaceful time from now on, at least for a while! There's only so much hectic I can take at any one time!

Happy belated WOYWW,

I love the correlation between the darkness of the storm and faith. Very nice.

How true, Peggy, that we don't always see God when in the dark and stormy times - BUT - His promise is that He will never leave us nor forsake us - and we hang in there with that thought in mind.
Thanks for already visiting. Yes, it is a privilege to be taking part in the wedding by making the dresses.
Take care. God bless.

Isn't it amazing what we find out about our blogging friends bit by bit. I had no idea you had been a runner. I love these friendships that just keep unfolding as time goes on.
Thanks for sharing your words and picture.
