Paint Party Friday: Madonna and Child

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday for October 12 is here.

I want to thank all my visitors from last week's  Paint Party Friday, Inspiration Avenue and Studio Sneak Peek!  What a lot of encouragement from such kindhearted folks!  Hopefully, I will get around to visiting more of you this week.  Here is my painting in progress.  This is one of my favorite themes.  I used the backing of a picture frame as the base so that when it's finished, it will have a frame.  As usual, I started with a gesso covered background and I've used watercolor and colored pencils for this painting.  At this point I have no idea what other materials I will use.  Til next time, happy PPF!   Join in the fun!

this is stunning! I love the light captured already - which is impressive so early on in the work.

This is beautiful and I love that you used the back of a picture frame to do it on - ingenious!! I love the colours you've used - so earthy and just peachy!

Sweet work ... full of gentle love!

such beautiful work. I have been using watercolor on a gesso background recently and LOVE the way it responds. Do you cover your completed work with a clear coat of varnish or polyurethane to protect it? I am worried since the watercolor is easily lifted up that it could be damaged easily. Thank you for your kind comment on my blog.

Such a beautiful painting! There are so many babies in our family at the moment - I wish I was clever enough to paint them as skillfully as you do. x jo

It is so very nice to see religious images being blogged. I am another of the rarities that like religious themes, and I really appreciate the fact that you show your work openly.
Many blessings from above, xx
